Alexa, a website that assigns traffic rank to websites based on the daily traffic, pageviews with other factors has got a handful of widgets that displays the blog rank. Alexa widget sends the accurate traffic data to Alexa on every page load since every time the page is loaded, Alexa script is called and Alexa stores the information to calculate the blog rank. Alexa rank show number of visitors and number of page views which are calculated on 3-month period. To increase Alexa Rank you can install Alexa toolbar on internet browser and if you not want to install this toolbar you can add Alexa widget on your blog.

Add the Alexa Widget to your blogger

  • Go to www.blogger.com and login
  • You are at Dashboard of your blogger account
  • Here click on Layout for the blog you want to add this widget.
  • Now you are at Layout->Page Elements, and you have links for "Add a Gadget"
  • Click on the "Add a Gadget" link the section where your wanted to add it.
  • The pop will show the list of gadgets / widgets, in that click on '+' icon for "HTML / JavaScript" to select HTML / JavaScript gadget / widget
  • Now, Go to Alexa.com
  • Select the widget that you want to display on your site
  • Fill up the details and click on Build Widget
  • Copy the widget code from the next page and go back to html code blogger
  • In the content section for the HTML/ JavaScript gadget paste the copied code of the Alexa widget and click on SAVE button to save this widget / gadget
  • Now this gadget / widget is added at the top of the section in which you have added. You can drag and drop to down if you want
  • Finally click on SAVE button at the right side top of Page Elements view of your blog's Layout and everything is done for you

Add the Alexa Widget to your site

  • First go to Alexa and click on “Register” on right hand side of navigation menu
  • When you click on “Register” it open a new window, simply fill-up all the fields or you can use “Connect With Facebook” option to login
  • After registering your account you see a window and click on “Add a Site now” to add a new site.
  • Click on “Add a Site now” it open a new window. Now you have to simply enter your site name in the space provided and click on “Claim your site” button.
  • Now you have two options to verify your site either to upload the text file in root directory or verify your meta tag (I’m using first option, i.e., uploading file in root directory).
  • Now log-in into your cPanel site by typing URL (http://www.domainname.com) and click on “File Manager”
  • Now go to root directory and click on upload button to upload the text file.
  • I’m assuming that you have uploaded the file. After uploading the file click, click on “Verify my text file” button to verify.
  • Now click on “Site Tools” and it open a window then click on “Alexa Site Widgets”
  • When you click on “Alexa Site Widgets” it open a new window and now simply choose the widget.
  • Now copy the text and paste this code in your wp-admin panel (under widgets section)
  • Now log-in into your wp-admin panel and go to “Appearance” and click on “Widgets”
  • After click on “Widgets” it open a new window, then paste the copied text
  • Finish! You have successfully added the Alexa Widget on your blog/website.

Now your blog/site should display the Alexa widget on Blogger sidebar or other place you put this widget on. Generally this widget displays the Alexa rank of a blog/site with the number of incoming links.
